The Ortovox Grizzly 1 is an avalanche shovel with the handle permanently fixed to the blade so no fiddly assembly is required. The new folding mechanism means it takes up less space in the bag and it is no longer possible for pieces to go missing! The large aluminium blade on the shovel, with its sharp edge, enables the user to cut quickly through packed avalanche snow. The ergonomic handle means that the shovel is positioned perfectly in the hand, ensuring conservation of energy while digging. The handle can be fixed at a right angle to the blade to make the shovel into an axe for digging through hard pack or ice. The handle section is oval, ensuring minimum distortion.
