The Snowpulse Guide 30 pack is perfect for day skiing, touring and carrying all your safety equipment. The Guide 30 comes with pockets for shovel and probe and enough carrying capacity for a set of skins and a harness as well as all the other necessary bits for touring. On the outside are ski and board carrying systems and an ice axe attachment point. However the main feature of the Guide 30 is the airbag system. The Guide 30 airbag is located inside the shoulder straps and a compressed nitrogen cylinder is located in the backpack. In the event of an avalanche, pulling the handle initiates the inflation of the airbag. The inflation mechanism combines the compressed nitrogen with the surrounding air (in a Venturi effect) and inflates the airbag in 3 seconds. Similar to a life vest in water, the 150 litre Snowpulse airbag is designed to keep you on your back with your head out of the snow to help avoid asphyxiation. Between 10 and 30% of avalanche deaths are due to shock, and injuries to the chest and head. Only Snowpulse airbags are designed to protect the head, back of neck and chest. With its bright colour the inflated airbag becomes an easily locatable surface beacon which helps to reduce search time. Wearing a Snowpulse bag significantly increases survival chances in case of an avalanche and is part of the safety equipment that should always be carried along with a transceiver, probe and shovel. Snowpulse has full certification for flying with a charged cylinder in both hold and hand luggage but check with your airline before flying for any individual regulations. The Snowpulse Guide 30 comes supplied with the new lighter non-rechargeable nitrogen filled cylinder without a pressure monitor. The non-rechargeable nitrogen cylinder can only be refilled by Snowpulse SA via your local retailer. The non-rechargeable nitrogen cylinder although not available for sale in North America is allowed into North America for the purposes of a trip.
