Chlorine is a widely used water disinfectant which kills pathogenic organisms in water. As well as for treating drinking water, chlorine can be used to disinfect water for cleaning teeth and for washing fruit and vegetables. Recommended for backup or occasional use in locations where heavy contamination is unlikely, such as UK wild camping.
Dosage: 1 tablet per 1 litre of suspect water (2 tablets per 1 litre if water is very cold or heavily microbial contamination is suspected).
